No. 24 Hartford beats Vermont 61-51
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Diana Delva had 22 points and 10 rebounds as No. 24 Hartford beat Vermont 61-51 on Saturday.
Erica Beverly found herself in foul trouble early and finished with no points or rebounds, but the bench came through for the Hawks (25-3, 16-0). Ilicia Mathis came off the bench to score 11 points and Ruthanne Doherty had 10.
Hartford led 29-19 at halftime, but Vermont (23-6, 13-3) cut the lead to 52-51 with 2:05 left.
Delva, who sank all eight of her shots, hit a layup and made one of two free throws. The Hawks locked down on defense and hit their free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.
May Kotsopoulos had 20 points and Courtnay Pilypaitis 10 for the Catamounts.
