Dominick Cruz Wins WEC 47

COLUMBUS, OHIO (GaeaTimes.com)- American martial artist Dominick Cruz registered a scintillating victory against champion Brian Bowles at the WEC 47 on Saturday night at the Nationwide Arena which resulted in the 24 year old fighter being named the World Extreme Cagefighting bantamweight champion.

Although initially the bout began with both the fighter’s giving their best shot, the fight had to be cut short after just two rounds, with Brian Bowles injuring his right hand. However, even in the initial two rounds, it was Dominick Cruz (15-1) who ruled the roost and showcased a performance that all his fans would surely like to remember for a long time. It hardly came as a surprise when Dominick Cruz was declared the winner as he managed to control the bout throughout with his speed, pace and elusiveness that was left his opponent all the more frustrated and was almost overpowered by the 24 year old fighter.

During much of the second round, Dominick Cruz showered his opponent with an unending succession of punches as well as kicks, with the round finally being sealed by him with the help of a touchdown. While reacting to his victory, Dominick Cruz later expressed in a post fight interview that he was left a bit surprised that the bout ended in the two just rounds as he expected it to continue till the third or fourth round.

Meanwhile, the abrupt ending of the fight left the crowds rather stunned, after Brian Bowles decided to discontinue the showdown owing to his broken hand and was rushed to a medical facility after the bout with Dominick Cruz came to an end.
