KUALA LUMPUR - McLaren Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton topped both the practice sessions of the Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang on Friday.

In the first session, Hamilton recorded the fastest lap of one minute 34.921sec, ahead of Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg (one minute 35.106sec) and reigning champion Jenson Button, who clocked the third-best time (one minute 35.207sec).

In session two, the 2008 champion recorded a time of one minute 34.175sec, which put him just ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel (one minute 34.441sec).

Rosberg was third (one minute 34.443sec), while Button finished fourth (one minute 34.538sec).

Hamilton said after practice that his car’s aerodynamic supremacy on the long straights and fast corners would help him to bounce back from his Melbourne nightmare.

“It was probably the best feeling I have had in the car around this circuit,” The Times quoted Hamilton, as saying.

“We have a good programme and we stuck to it. I am still trying to get an understanding of the tyres, but generally it was a good feeling,” he added. (ANI)
