Saborio gives Real Salt Lake 2-2 tie with Sounders

SANDY, Utah — Alvaro Saborio knocked home the tying goal off a corner kick in the waning minutes of stoppage time to give defending champion Real Salt Lake a 2-2 tie with the Seattle Sounders on Saturday night.

Real Salt Lake (1-1-1) extended its home unbeaten streak to 14 games and avoided losing a home opener for the first time in its six-year history.

Will Johnson also scored for Salt Lake, tying the score at 1-1 on a diving header in the 53rd minute.

Steve Zakuani gave Seattle (1-1-1) a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, taking a pass from Fredy Montero and slotting a shot off goalkeeper Nick Rimando’s foot. Tyrone Marshall put the Sounders back ahead in the 72nd on a header off a a corner kick.
