MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It seems the controversy surrounding the financial transactions of the Indian Premier League is getting murkier with each passing day. A mysterious woman was spotted leaving the office of IPL chief Lalit Modi just few minutes prior to the visit of the Income Tax officials. According to latest reports, the lady who was seen exiting Lalit Modi’s office was none other than Laila Mahmood, the step daughter of liquor baron and owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Vijay Mallya.
Laila Mahmood, who is known to have worked for the IPL chief, was caught in the CCTV footage exiting Hotel Four Seasons in Mumbai carrying along with her few documents as well as a laptop, reports have stated. The fact that Vijay Mallya’s step daughter left Lalit Modi’s office just before the Income tax officials arrived for investigation had raised many doubts due to which the Income Tax authorities took necessary actions to identify the mysterious lady. At the same time, reports have also revealed that Laila Mahmood has been questioned by the authorities and it appears that she has been given a clean chit by the Income tax officials. An IT officer has reportedly revealed that the investigation is limited to IPL franchisees and Laila Mahmood does not seem to be linked with it in any manner.
Meanwhile, a statement has also been released by Vijay Mallya in which he has confirmed that his step daughter indeed works for Lalit Modi and also validated that Laila Mahmood has given a statement to the income tax officials. However, he added that he had no idea about his step daughter’s involvement in income tax questioning.
