LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY (GaeaTimes.com)- Super Saver with jockey Calvin Borel as the rider registered victory in the 136th Kentucky Derby on Saturday. As Super Saver emerged as the Kentucky Derby 2010 winner, it marked the third victory for rider Calvin Borel within a period of four years while for trainer Todd Pletcher, this was the very first win at the biggest United States thoroughbred race. Todd Pletcher could not have asked for more on Saturday as the Super Saver horse raced its way to victory at the Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. This was Todd Pletcher’s first victory in the race after he failed to taste victory in 24 previous attempts.

Just as the 136th Kentucky Derby was about to reach its conclusion on Saturday, Calvin Borel rode confidently on the perilous mud of the Churchill Downs before making his ultimate move which enabled him to sail to the finishing line, to the utter delight of the large number of spectators gathered at the venue. While talking about the winning rider, Todd Pletcher revealed to news sources that Calvin Borel was indeed a great rider but at Churchill Downs his expertise increased manifold.

Despite the fact that Calvin Borel’s win enabled Todd Pletcher win the Kentucky Derby after a long wait of about a decade, the win did not come out of the horse which was presumed to be best chance this year. The trainer’s colt Eskendereya was being pitched as the horse to look out for in the race this time but had to be withdrawn at the last moment due to a leg injury.
