NCAA gives Indy future swimming championships
INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis will host the Division I, II or III men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships every year between 2012 and 2017 under a new deal announced by the NCAA.
Indiana University Natatorium, which has hosted several Olympics Trials for swimming and diving over the past 20 years, will be the site for the national championships in March.
The Division I championships will be in Indy in 2013 and 2017. Division II swimmers and divers will compete here in 2015 and 2016, with the Division III championships slated for 2012 and 2014.
The announcement is another win for Indy, which has a contract with the NCAA to host a men’s Final Four and a women’s Final Four during every five-year rotation through 2039.
