Top amateurs named for Maloof Money Cup New York
IRVINE, Calif. — Cory Kennedy of Lake Stevens, Wash., Jimmy Carlin of San Diego and Theotis Beasley of Hawthorne, Calif., top the field of 43 amateur skateboarders who have been invited to compete in the World Industries amateur street contest at the Maloof Money Cup New York on June 6.
Organizers say the Maloof Money Cup gives top amateurs the chance to skate some of the best street plazas ever built as they move closer to turning pro.
The Maloof Money Cup New York, presented by Vans, is hosted by Joe and Gavin Maloof, the brothers who own the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.
The competition is set for June 5-6 at a skate plaza being built in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. In the professional division, top skaters such as Chris Cole, Paul Rodriguez and Ryan Sheckler will compete for the top prize of $100,000 from a purse of $250,000.
