RUSTENBURG - The coach of England’s national football team, Fabio Capello, set a bad example Wednesday for his star player Wayne Rooney, warned by a referee earlier this week to control his temper in order to avoid another World Cup red card.

The gnarled Italian, 63, showed a flash of anger before a training session at England’s World Cup headquarters in Rustenburg. All of a sudden he shouted at photographers who were pointing their cameras at the dressing room in expectation of the team’s exit.

“Why are you taking photos of the rooms? No excuses!” he shouted before storming off.

Capello had earlier cautioned Rooney about fits of temper.

Rooney was booked in England’s final tune-up game for the World Cup, a 3-0 win against local side Platinum stars Monday in Rustenburg. The match official said the Manchester United striker had used “vulgar language” against him.

Rooney was sent off at the 2006 World Cup for stamping on Portugal’s Ricardo Carvalho, as England went on to lose the quarter-final match on penalties.

England’s World Cup opener is on Saturday in Rustenburg against the United States.
