Germany leads Australia 4-0 after 75 minutes
DURBAN, South Africa — Germany scored two goals in each half against 10-man Australia to lead 4-0 after 75 minutes of their World Cup match Sunday.
Lukas Podolski scored with a searing left-footed shot in the eighth minute of the Group D match. Miroslav Klose rose to head in a cross after 26 minutes for his 11th World Cup goal, tying him on Germany’s all-time list in second place with Juergen Klinsmann.
Thomas Mueller scored his first goal for Germany in the 68th and Cacau added another goal two minutes later.
Australia had a promising start to the second half with a penalty claim turned down in the 49th minute at Moses Mabidha Stadium in Durban. But Tim Cahill was ejected in the 56th minute after a tackle on Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
