South Africa and Uruguay 0-0 after 15 minutes

PRETORIA, South Africa — South African playmaker Steven Pienaar picked up an early yellow card as Bafana Bafana were locked 0-0 with Uruguay after 15 minutes of their World Cup match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday.

Pienaar was booked after charging out of the defensive wall to block a Diego Forlan freekick with his arm after six minutes. Forlan was given another free kick, just outside the South African area, but blasted it into the wall.

Uruguay had the better of the early play and Luis Suarez fired wide after a neat exchange of passes wih Forlan in the penalty area

Both teams tied their opening matches.
