Argentina, Greece level at 0-0 after 45 minutes
POLOKWANE, South Africa — Argentina and Greece are level at 0-0 at the end of the first half in their Group B match at the World Cup on Tuesday.
Argentina has dominated possession and is completing numerous passes but the Greek defense is holding up.
Argentina forward Sergio Aguero’s 32nd-minute close-range shot was blocked by Greece defender Loukas Vyntra while a cross from Clemente Rodriguez from the left side was nearly an own-goal by another Greeck back, Vasileios Torosidis.
Two days before his 23rd birthday, Lionel Messi has become Argentina’s youngest captain.
Argentina will finish first in the group with a win but can also go through with a loss, depending on the outcome of Nigeria’s match against South Korea. Greece can also advance.
