Argentina, Greece level at 0-0 after 75 minutes
POLOKWANE, South Africa — Argentina hasn’t been able to find a way through Greece’s packed defense, with the score tied at 0-0 after 75 minutes of their Group B match at the World Cup on Tuesday.
Argentina has dominated possession but the Greek defense is holding up.
Greece’s best chance came when Georgios Samaras beat the defense but sent his shot wide of the post in the 48th minute. In the 69th, Greek goalkeeper Alexandros Tzorvas saved a long-distance free kick from Lionel Messi and a shot from Mario Bolati.
Two days before his 23rd birthday, Messi has become Argentina’s youngest captain.
Argentina will finish first with a win but can also advance with a loss, depending on Nigeria’s match against South Korea. Greece can also go though.
