FIFA: No case against cursing Brazil coach Dunga
JOHANNESBURG — FIFA says it will not investigate Brazil coach Dunga for allegedly cursing at journalists at the official World Cup news conference after his team’s win over Ivory Coast.
FIFA spokesman Pekka Odriozola says its disciplinary committee decided it did not have grounds to open a case.
Dunga’s words were caught on a microphone during postmatch questioning at Johannesburg’s Soccer City on Sunday. Brazil won 3-1.
FIFA has previously acted against coaches who cursed during a mandatory postmatch media session.
Diego Maradona was suspended from soccer for two months last November for his profane rant after Argentina qualified for the World Cup. The ban prevented Maradona from attending the draw in Cape Town.
