US, Algeria 0-0 in Group C finale
PRETORIA, South Africa — The United States is tied 0-0 with Algeria after 15 minutes of their Group C finale.
Rafik Djebbour came closest to scoring Algeria’s first goal of South Africa 2010 when the striker hit the crossbar in the sixth minute after U.S. defender Jay DeMerit failed to clear a long ball.
Herculez Gomez immediately responded at the other end, drawing a two-handed save from goalkeeper Rais Bolhi.
Algeria needs to win to have any chance of advancing from the group, while a draw could be enough for the United States depending on the result in the other Group C match between England and Slovenia.
