Germany leads Ghana 1-0 after 75 minutes
JOHANNESBURG — Germany leads Ghana 1-0 after 75 minutes and would win Group D at the World Cup if the score holds up.
Mesut Oezil rifled a left-footed shot in the 60th high into the net from outside the area to break the deadlock after both teams had wasted chances.
Ghana threatened in the 66th but German captain Philipp Lahm stretched to block Andre Ayew’s shot. Lahm also cleared at the post on Asamoah Gyan’s first-half header from a corner.
Oezil got clear in the 25th but Ghana goalie Richard Kingson blocked his shot.
Ghana can also advance, depending on the result of Serbia’s game against Australia.
