Germany leads Ghana 1-0 after 60 minutes
JOHANNESBURG — Mesut Oezil has struck with a left-footed shot in the 60th minute and Germany leads Ghana 1-0 in the final World Cup Group D match.
Oezil fired high into the net from 22 yards, after missing the best chance in the first half when he was clear but Ghana goalie Richard Kingson blocked his shot.
Ghana came close in the 51st when Kwadwo Asamoah ran through but shot weakly at goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
In the first half, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan had a header from a corner cleared at the post by Philipp Lahm, and Kevin-Prince Boateng’s header was wide. Boateng’s half-brother, Jerome, is playing for Germany.
Kingson twice saved first-half shots from Cacau.

I liked the spirit with which Ghana played against Germany. They may have lost but they made a point. |
