San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) - After a pathetic decision of the referee, USA lost the last match against Slovenia but they are back with a bang as they win against Algeria. They defeated Algeria by 1-0 to reach the round of 16 in the world cup 2010. Landon Donovan was the scorer against the Algeria for USA.
USA’s first game against England was a draw with score of 1-1 and the result of the second match was also the same but the numbers of goals were different, 2-2. It was hard luck of USA that their sure goal was cancelled by the referee.
It was a very challenging match for both the teams as the winner of this match would go to the next round. Just after kicking off of the match in the 3rd minute there was some bleeding from Jay Demerit’s mouth due to a collision. After a few minutes Algeria attacked and the shot hit the bar. In the first half the both teams got free kick. In the 12th minute Hassan Yebda was shown the yellow card for chopping down Jozy Altidore of America. In the 21st minute of the play an USA goal was disallowed. It was shot from chaos. In the first half the combination of Donovan and Dempsey got so many chances to create a hole in the Algerian defense but they were unable to draw a margin. The first half ended with a score of 0-0. At the starting of 2nd half Benny Feilhaber came in place of Gomez. The match was not peacefully completed because in the second half four yellow cards and one red card were shown. In the 90th Donovan scored the winning goal for USA and led his team to the next round.
