Brazil, Portugal 0-0 at halftime
DURBAN, South Africa — Brazil and Portugal are tied 0-0 at halftime in their final Group G match at the World Cup on Friday.
Nilmar nearly punished slack defending by Portugal in the 30th minute, chipping the ball at close range. But goalkeeper Eduardo parried it against the goalpost.
Luis Fabiano headed just wide for Brazil in the 39th.
Neither side produced many chances at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with Portugal falling back and relying on counterattacks.
Brazil forward Luis Fabiano was carded for a foul and Mexican referee Benito Archundia showed six more yellow cards in the physical match.
Brazil has already reached the knockout stage, while Portugal has a comfortable goal differential to reach the last 16 even with a loss.
