ICoast leads NKorea 2-0 after 30 minutes
NELSPRUIT, South Africa — Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure and Koffi Romaric N’Dri have both scored to give the Elephants a 2-0 lead over North Korea in their Group G match Friday at the World Cup.
Toure curled the ball round North Korea goalkeeper Ri Myong Guk after a low cross from Arthur Boka to give Ivory Coast the lead in the 14th minute.
Romaric headed the ball over the line after Didier Drogba’s drive hit the underside of the crossbar for the second goal in the 20th minute.
North Korea’s came closest to a goal when Hong Yong Jo’s free kick whipped wide of the left post in the 24th.
Ivory Coast started the day needing to win and make up a nine-goal difference with Portugal to have a chance of advancing to the round of 16.
