BLOEMFONTEIN, South Africa — Switzerland and Honduras are tiedt 0-0 after 75 minutes of their World Cup Group H match Friday.
After a tight first half, the game opened up in the second with both teams facing elimination from the competition.
A swift counterattack from Honduras in the 71st minute saw an unmarked Edgar Alvarez denied by a brilliant save from Diego Benaglio.
Switzerland came close in the 63rd minute when Eren Derdiyok’s low shot was saved by Noel Valladares.
Winless Honduras could have taken the lead in the 53rd, but striker David Suazo flicked his header wide after clever work by right winger Alvarez.
The Swiss threatened with a similar chance in the 17th minute when Derdiyok headed off the target from 6 yards.
