Carlos Zambrano

CHICAGO (GaeaTimes.com)- Carlos Zambrano has been suspended for an indefinite period of time by Chicago Cubs. Reportedly, Carlos Zambrano went ahead to engage himself in a verbal tussle with fellow teammate Derek Lee. Carlos Zambrano held his teammates responsible after White Sox took the lead in the first inning by a margin of 4-0. Carlos Zambrano said that his teammates weren’t active enough to hustle after the ball which made White Sox emerge as the winner beating Chicago Cubs by 6-0.

Jim Hendry, who happens to be the general manger told the media that it was highly “unprofessional” of Carlos Zambrano to have reacted against his teammates. He also said that Carlos Zambrano’s behavior is “Not acceptable” under any circumstance and hence the team had decided to suspend the pitcher for an indefinite period of time. Speaking on the same note was Lou Piniella who called Carlos Zambrano’s behavior to be embarrassing for Chicago Cubs. As a matter of fact, Carlos Zambrano is the only player who has been warned previously by the disciplinary committee following his behavior on and off the ground.

Carlos Zambrano was signed by Chicago Cubs for an umbrella amount of $91.5 million deal in a five year contract which was extended in August 2007. It’s speculated that after Friday Carlos Zambrano might never play for Chicago Cubs. However, Jim Hendry is of the opinion that still the situation has not gone out of control and the team might consider their decision twice before they nullify the contract. Jim Hendry underlined the fact that Carlos Zambrano’s tantrums has been a “recurring issue” and hence a “disappointing” affair for the entire team.
