LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The crowd at Staples Center went up in raptures at the 29th pick by the Anaheim Ducks as Emerson Etem’s name was announced. The youngster is touted as one of the fastest skaters in the NHL Drafts. The former Medicine Hat Tigers player is also expected to make the team soon if he continues the form which he had with the former team.

In a later interview Emerson Etem said that his primary goal is to make it in the final team. He said he will focus on the off-season so that he understands his position before the training camp begins. He added that he couldn’t be happier after being picked by the Anaheim Ducks. Being asked about the roar that went up after he was picked, Emerson Etem revealed that he had a lot of family and friends at the stands. He also spoke about his fellow draft pick Cam Fowler who slipped from No.3 pick to No.12 but was also picked up by the Anaheim Ducks. He called Cam Fowler a great buddy and a player he is keen to enjoy the experience with.

Emerson Etem started off with roller hockey at the YMCA Long Beach and later went into the Medicine Hat Tigers’ side. He scored 37 goals in the WHL Rookies and was known for is speed on the ice. He admitted that though he had never seen a Anaheim Ducks game before, it was now his favorite team. Cam Fowler on the other hand said that though it was disheartening to slide from being the third pick to No.12 he was happy to be able to play for the Anaheim Ducks.
