US, Ghana go to extra time at 1-1

RUSTENBURG, South Africa — The United States and Ghana are in extra time at the World Cup after a 1-1 draw through 90 minutes Saturday in the round of 16.

Kevin-Prince Boateng put Ghana ahead in the fifth minute with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.

United States coach Bob Bradley then stabilized his team with a pair of substitutions, and Landon Donovan equalized with a 62nd-minute penalty kick.

A penalty shootout will decide the outcome if the teams are level after 30 minutes of extra time. The winner will meet Uruguay in the quarterfinals Friday.
