Brazil and Chile 0-0 after 15 minutes
JOHANNESBURG — Brazil’s Gilberto Silva has had the best chance against Chile as the score is 0-0 after 15 minutes of their second-round match Monday in the World Cup.
The Brazilian midfielder shot from long distance in the 9th minute, forcing Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to push the ball to the corner. Kaka shot wide in the following sequence.
Mauricio Isla attempted to stun Brazil with a low cross in the 4th minute but Julio Cesar stopped it before Chile’s attackers could reach it. Brazil counterattacked, with Luis Fabiano shooting wide of the far post from the right flank on a cold night at Ellis Park.
The winner will play the Netherlands in the quarterfinals Friday.
