Brazil leads Chile 2-0 after 60 minutes
JOHANNESBURG — Juan and Luis Fabiano scored within 4 minutes of the first half to put Brazil up 2-0 against Chile, a lead it held through 60 minutes of their second-round World Cup match Monday.
Connecting on Maicon’s corner kick in the 34th minute, Juan sent a header into goalkeeper Claudio Bravo’s upper right corner.
Luis Fabiano made it 2-0 in the 38th when he rounded Bravo after picking up Kaka’s pass into the penalty area.
Chile made two substitutions and started the second half aggressively, but has yet to create any real danger. Humberto Suazo had Chile’s only shot on target in the 13th.
Gilberto Silva forced a save from Bravo with a long-distance shot in the 8th and Dani Alves lifted a free kick just over the crossbar at the start of the second half.
