LONDON - British tennis ace Andy Murray believes chicken baguettes could the key weapon to help him knockout French rival Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The 23-year-old has been scoffing two of the giant treats from a cafe near Wimbledon every day in a bid to bulk up for his quarterfinal clash.

And, according to The Sun, Murray hopes the protein-packed snacks will help him move one step closer to his first Grand Slam dream as he takes on the man dubbed the Muhammad Ali of tennis.

Edmundo Dorguti, manager of the Maison St Cassien where the star stocks up, said: “Andy certainly likes his chicken. Nearly every day he orders the same - two marinated chicken baguettes.

Good luck charm … Edmundo with Murray’s chicken snack”He prefers it plain with crisps on the side. I’m not sure if it’s a superstition or if it’s just a favourite of his.

“We have a joke with him that eating it so much will make him put on some pounds, but he says he burns it off no problem.”

Edmundo, 34, added: “Andy comes in every year he is playing at Wimbledon and you couldn’t meet a nicer person.”

Murray has breezed into the last eight of Wimbledon - the only man yet to drop a set so far. He has faced Tsonga on three previous occasions - winning twice. And if he can repeat his success today he could set up a thrilling clash with world No1 Rafael Nadal.

Former classmate and ex-Miss Scotland Katharine Brown says getting back with on-off girlfriend Kim Sears has helped his form.

She said: “Support from the people you love helps.” (ANI)
