Brazil leads Netherlands 1-0 at halftime
PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — Brazil has dominated the Netherlands in the first half and leads 1-0 in a World Cup quarterfinal Friday.
Robinho already had a goal ruled offside when he collected Felipe Melo’s low pass up the middle of the field in the 10th minute and finished with a low shot to put the five-time champions ahead.
Juan nearly made it 2-0 in the 25th when his shot from in front of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg went over the net. Then Stekelenburg saved a sure goal from the right foot of Kaka in the 31st minute with a spectacular leaping stop.
Brazil’s Michel Bastos received a yellow card in the 37th minute and John Heitinga of the Netherlands got one in the 14th.
