Uruguay, Ghana tied at 1-1 after 75 minutes
JOHANNESBURG — Uruguay and Ghana are tied at 1-1 after 75 minutes of a hard-fought World Cup quarterfinal match.
Diego Forlan scored in the 55th minute on a free kick after Ghana took the lead in first-half injury time on a swerving long-range strike that deceived the goalkeeper. Sulley Muntari’s 35-yard left-footed shot bounced beyond Fernando Muslera’s dive.
Uruguay almost took the lead in the 63rd but Luis Suarez volleyed wide when Ghana goalie Richard Kingson misjudged Forlan’s cross.
Kingson saved well from Suarez in the 70th, and twice denied him in the first half.
