DEHRADUN - Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is likely to get married to his childhood friend Sakshi Singh Rawat at a private function here on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, 29-year-old Dhoni got engaged to Rawat at around 6.30 p.m. in the presence of just family members and close friends.
Indian cricketers Ashish Nehra and Harbhajan Singh were also present on the occasion.
The wedding is likely to take place at Vishranti farms here amid tight security and the couple is expected to hold the reception on July 7 in Mumbai.
“It has been on the cards for a long time now, and both families thought the time was right to formalise the relationship,” The Indian Express quoted an unnamed relative as saying.
There are reports that both Dhoni and Rawat studied together in DAV Shyamali in Ranchi and their fathers worked together in MECON.
Sakshi Rawat graduated from the Institute of Hotel Management in Aurangabad two months ago. (ANI)
