DEHRADUN, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni got engaged to Sakshi Singh Rawat on Saturday. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sakshi Singh Rawat had been childhood friends and both families have known each other for a long time. Reportedly, the engagement took place in a private party held at a hotel in Dehradun and the marriage is to be held right after the home series of Australia in the upcoming month of October.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s engagement was strictly a private affair where only his family members and a few close friends were present. Among his fellow teammates only Ashish Nehra and Harbhajan Singh were present at the occasion. Following his engagement Mahendra Singh Dhoni shall be celebrating his 29th birthday in a few days. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been the most successful captain in the recent cricketing history of India. Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to win the IPL 2010. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the only skipper who led his team to emerge as a winner in the first bilateral ODI series against Srilanka and Newzealand. Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the very first Indian cricketer who was awarded the ICC ODI (One Day International) Player of the Year award consecutively in 2008 and in 2009. He was also awardedIndia’s fourth highest civilian honor the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in the last year itself.

After Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the captain of the Indian cricket team, India managed to emerge victorious in Test matches and One Day International and is now regarded to be one of the top cricket teams in the world. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is currently on a break and shall be back in the fields 0n July 18 when India takes on Sri Lanka in a three-Test match series.
