RANCHI - Women hockey player Asuntha Lakra has alleged that she was dropped from the Asian Champions Trophy squad after selection without any reason.
The player contented that she was given air ticket for the tournament to be held in Busan, South Korea from July 27-31.
Lakra, who has been part of the team for a long time now, did enquire about the shoddy treatment but no official reply has come so far.
“I came to know before departure of the team that another girl is going for the tournament in my place. Then I asked the manager in front of entire team that why I am not going? She replied with folded hands that please don’t ask me, ask Hockey India,” said Asuntha Lakra.
“Preeti Kiro of Jharkhand has been included in my place,” she added.
The team left for Busan under the captaincy of Surinder Kaur.
India will begin their Asian Champions Trophy campaign against Japan on July 27. Other teams are hosts South Korea, China and Japan. (ANI)
