Asiad hockey: Sandeep Singh strikes twice as India beats Pak 3-2 to enter semis

GUANGZHOU - Penalty-corner specialist Sandeep Singh converted two shot corners as India stormed into the Asian Games men’s hockey semifinals with a 3-2 win over Pakistan here on Saturday.

Sandeep Singh slammed one in each half and Dharamvir Singh chipped in with the third goal as India recorded their third consecutive win in Group B after an action-packed encounter.

Shakeel Abbasi and Rehan Butt scored the two goals from the Pakistani side.

India, which is currently standing on top of the table with nine points after today’s win, will now clash against Japan in their last league match on Sunday.

Japan is currently leveled with Pakistan on six points each. (ANI)
