New York (GaeaTimes.com) - Kay cowher, wife of the former Pittsburg Steelers coach Bill Cowher died on Friday at the age of 54. She was battling skin cancer. She left behind her husband and three daughters - Meagan, Lauren and Lindsay.

Kaye (young) Cowher was born in Bunn. N.C. Kaye and Bill met at N.C. state during 1976. During that period Bill was a football player and Kaye along with her twin sister Faye was women’s basketball player. The couple got married in 1981. She largely contributed in the retirement of her husband Bill Cowher from coaching in 2007. They later moved to Raleigh, where the whole family got together, with their three daughters completing their high school and college basketball career.

Kaye and her twin sister Faye played basketball for the state of North Carolina. Their team won the first AAC Women’s title in 1978. Later they went to play professional basketball league, with one season in New York and two seasons in New Jersey. Kaye and Bill’s both daughters Meagan and Lauren played at Princeton. And Lindsay played for the Wofford College in South Carolina. Bill Cowher has worked as an NFL analyst in CBS since he left the coaching job in Steelers. He turned down many coaching job offers, mainly due to his wife, insisting him to spend more time with the family.

After resigning as the coach of Steelers, this is what Bills said to the reporters,

To my wife, my soul mate and my friend: the sacrifice that she’s made and the love and support that she has given me through the years, she’s been my backbone.

The service will be held in North Carolina on Monday. The family has requested for privacy and no information have been given on account of her death.
