Jack Tatum Dies Of Heart Attack

COLUMBUS (GaeaTimes.com)- Former Oakland Raiders all-star player Jack Tatum died on Tuesday at the Oakland hospital. The death of the player was caused by a massive heart attack. Jack Tatum was 61-year-old. The family of the three-time Pro Bowl safety said in its statement that Jack Tatum was suffering from diabetes and other health related issues for years. The Oakland Raiders team with which Jack Tatum was associated for around ten years mourned the death of the star player on its official website.
In the official website of the Oakland Raiders, the team confirmed the death of Jack Tatum and added that it is “deeply saddened” by the news of the passing away of the player. The Oakland Raiders also maintained that Jack Tatum was a true champion and a “true [Oakland] Raider warrior”. The team also acknowledged the contributions made by Jack Tatum and added that Jack Tatum was not only a great player but also a great human being who “had been a big part” of their lives since his entry into the team as a first round draft pick out of the Ohio State in 1971. Jim Tressel, the present coach of the Ohio State said in a statement on Tuesday that the team has lost one of its “greatest Buckeyes”. Remembering the defense of Jack Tatum, Jim Tressel said that whenever one thinks of Ohio State defense, it is the name of the former that comes to mind at first.
Jack Tatum was known famously for his hard hitting defense. In his nine seasons with the Oakland Raiders, Jack Tatum led his team to win the National Football League championship in 1976 and had to his credit 30 interceptions. Out of the total 120 games that he played under the banner of the Oakland Raiders, he started in 106 games.
