LOS Angeles (GaeaTimes.com) — Nokia Theater stood stunned, as Pierre-Luc Gagnon was able to come from behind to beat Shaun White. Shaun White returned to X Games after a long time and posted two of the biggest scores in the skateboard vert final with his first two runs. Pierre-Luc Gagnon fell in each of his first two runs and it became highly improbable that Gangon could win the event.

When asked about what he felt during that time Gangon said

Shaun was killing it and Andy was pulling off his runs. Shaun did a really good run and for some reason, after that I got a little more relaxed. I didn’t think at that point I could come back from that. I would have to do two of my best runs. The first one I made it and got a really good score. I was like, `Just do that again.’ I was able to do the victory lap.

He later went to win the event with a score of 93. Shaun White scored 85 and Andy Macdonald finished with a score of 79. This was Pierre’s third consecutive gold in the X Games. Previously no other athlete in X Games history won the event three consecutive times.

Shaun White was a fan favorite, with his own video games, clothing lines etc. It was rumored that Shaun would pull off a 1080 but he disappointed his fans by not attempting it.
