Discreetly Mine wins Amsterdam Stakes at Saratoga
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Discreetly Mine took control from Essence Hit Man leaving the quarter pole and drew away to an 8¾-length victory in the $150,000 Amsterdam Stakes for 3-year-olds at Saratoga Race Course.
John Velazquez was aboard the heavy favorite, who flourished since returning to sprint distances after a dismal 13th-place effort in the Kentucky Derby. He ran 6½ furlongs on Monday in 1:14.27, giving trainer Todd Pletcher consecutive victories in the Amsterdam.
Discreetly Mine earned $90,000 for the E. Paul Robsham Stable and paid $3.20, $2.60 and $2.20. Essence Hit Man returned $5.20 and $3.80. In Jack’s Memory paid $6.20 to show.
