Jets, Revis’ agents to keep talks ‘confidential’

CORTLAND, N.Y. — The Jets and the agents for holdout cornerback Darrelle Revis say they are trying to clear the air and will keep all future negotiations confidential.

The sides issued a joint statement Thursday after the talks got snippy earlier this week, with both going through the media to make their points. Jets coach Rex Ryan even got into it, suggesting he cancel practice one day, get the entire organization together and sit down with Revis and his agents.

Wide receiver Braylon Edwards says he wouldn’t be in favor of that because it would put one player above the team.

Revis has missed 12 days, including Thursday, since the team reported for training camp at SUNY Cortland. He wants to become the league’s highest-paid cornerback.
