NEW DELHI - The Group of Ministers (GoM) on the Commonwealth Games, chaired by Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy, met for the first time Sunday after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh intervened to take stock of much-criticised preparations for the mega sporting event.

Earlier in the day, Reddy told reporters that the main agenda for the meeting was to discuss the opening ceremony. “Today we will discuss the details of the opening ceremony. We will see other things also,” he said.

Oscar-winning composer A.R.Rehman is likely to present his composition for the opening ceremony to the GoM.

The meeting is also being attended by Sports Minister M.S. Gill, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, CWG organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi and senior officials of the Delhi Development Authority, the Public Works Department and the Central Public Works Department.
