KOLKATA - Chirag United player Eduardo Chacon was Monday handed a two-month suspension and fined Rs.2 lakh by the Indian Football Association for slapping the referee in a Kolkata Premier Division football league match earlier this year.

Dissatisfied with a penalty given by the referee Minangshu Bhattacharjee in a title-deciding match against Mohun Bagan, Eduardo slapped the match official and was promptly served marching orders.

Mohun Bagan had bagged the chamapionship after Edeh Chidi coverted the disputed spot kick.

The IFA disciplinary committee, which met during the day, decided to increase the suspension term if the Brazilian did not pay the fine.

The committee also issued a warning to Chirag player Denson Devdas and Mohun Bagan finance secretary Debasish Dutta for their behaviour during and after the match.

Devdas had kissed the referee and told him ‘Apne marwaa diya’ after Bhattacharya awarded the penalty. Devdas was also shown the red card.
