London, Ag 16(ANI): The Pakistan team’s dismal tour of England is likely to suffer another setback as wicketkeeper-batsman Zulqarnain Haider could be sent home ahead of the third Test after suffering a hairline fracture in his right hand.

According to reports, initial medical examination has confirmed that Haider would require at least a month’s rest to recover from the injury.

“He is likely to be flown back home and the tour selection committee is pondering over asking for another wicketkeeper to be flown in to join the team in England,” The Daily Times quoted one source, as saying.

The source further said that though Kamran Akmal is part of the team, the management is not confident about him, as not only is he struggling for form, but had also hurt his eye during a practice session.

“His eye is swollen and he is getting treatment for it. It is not a serious problem, but obviously the tour management does not want to take any chances,” the source said.

Zulqarnain had replaced Kamran for the second Test at Edgbaston.

The 24-year-old did not have an impressive debut behind the stumps, but excelled as a batsman, scoring a fighting 88 in the second innings to help Pakistan avoid an innings defeat.

“The situation is that given Kamran’s erratic form, the tour management and selectors will most likely like to have another reserve keeper, apparently Sarfraz Ahmed, for the remaining matches,” the source said.

The Pakistan team currently trail the four-match Test series 0-2. (ANI)
