England’s performance will do the talking in Australia: Strauss

LONDON - England skipper Andrew Strauss has described his Australian counterpart Ricky Ponting’s claims of repeating their 5-0 Ashes whitewash of 2006-07 as silly, and said that he attempts a double victory against the Aussies.
If Strauss leads England to a 4-0 series victory over Pakistan, they will overtake Australia in the world Test rankings.
The England skipper will score a double by retaining The Ashes, which starts exactly 100 days from now.
Strauss prefers his team’s performances to do the talking and six Test wins on the trot certainly make an eloquent case, The Sun reports.
Asked what score he thinks would be absolutely possible, he replied: “Anything that means an England win. It’s a hard challenge going to Australia but we have a side that can do really well out there.”
“To a certain extent, it’s the silly season starting with all sorts of predictions and people coming out with different things. We’re excited about going to Australia and think we can do very well. But it’s what we do on the field on the first day at Brisbane that counts,” Strauss added. (ANI)
