LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com) — On Wednesday, Mountain West Conference officially announced that Nevada State and Frenso State are to join them. Former members of Western Athletic Conference (WAC), Frenso and Nevada are expected to join Mountain West for the 2011 football season.
The shift of Frenso State to the new conference has reduced the team number of WAC to six. The new invitation seems to please the two presidents of Frenso and Nevada state schools. They have agreed the terms and subsequently accepted the invitation on grounds that they would be able to draw more fans.
Nevada State school President, Milt Glick seems to be over excited with the new move. He stated that,
“I think it’s extraordinary, I think people have been waiting a long time for this day. … It really is a game-changer for us. This is a momentous day for the University of Nevada.”
Same is the reaction with Frenso State President, John Welty, who believes that it is a great opportunity and honor for them to join the world class conference.
Mountain West Conference new addition of members bring new challenges and excitements. We can hope that this new members will make football conference stronger as ever and this partnership will be for a long term interests.
