NEW DELHI - The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Thursday stressed that the commitment made to the Army for its services during the Oct 3-14 Games will be fulfilled.

“Whatever has been told will be given,” the committee’s Joint Director General, Lt.Gen.(retd.) S.P.S. Dhillon told reporters here.

Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi had Aug 20 maintained that the defence ministry has agreed to do a few of the works without charge. However, he had stressed that for some of them, they will charge.

Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy had also written to Defence Minister A.K. Antony to ensure that the army does not charge for providing facilities during the Commonwealth Games.
