New York (GaeaTimes.com) - The 43rd Barclays Golf Tournament has begun today at 7:10 in the morning. The tournament has very rich history. It started in 1967. From 1967 to 2007, the tournament was played in Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York. But from 2008 the tournament moved from this prestigious course. It was moved to Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey in 2008. This year, the tournament is also taking place in this prestigious club. Normally, the PGA tournament is likely to happen in the week before or after the U.S Open in the month of June. But in 2007, it was played in August due to tournament’s new playoff system for FedEx Cup. The starting schedule moved from June to August since then.
The Barclays Golf Tournament is the occasion to earn some reputation for Barclays’ group.
Barclays is already one of the most distinguished names in the world of finance we now intend to earn the same reputation in professional golf as we build on the tremendous success of 2009’s tournament.
said Robert E. Diamond, Jr., President of Barclays PLC. They have announced $1,350,000 for winning prize out of total prize fund of $7,500,000. We have to wait till 29th August to know the player who will get that huge amount. The host Barclays PLC has also announced some charity in this 2010 edition of their prestigious golf tournament. They invited local charitable institutes to promote their tickets.
Now for latest update, Tiger Woods is standing top in the leader board. His ranking is 112 after FedEx cup which is his career’s worst. But the amount of determination in his play shows us the heat inside him. It seems that after he was smashed by media and newspapers over her recent divorce, Tiger will roar in his favorite style in the course.
Pro golfer Jim Furyk has been disqualified from the tournament. He missed the Pro-am competition yesterday and according to rule he was thrown out of this prestigious tournament. The unfortunate incident happened due to his cell phone. He set alarm to wake up early, but the cell phone was dead in the middle and he opened his eyes in 7:23 am yesterday.
I cannot disagree with it more. I have no idea how the commissioner let this rule go through. It’s ridiculous.
said the unfortunate golfer after he was thrown out.
