Advani, Sethi knocked knocked out of World Billiards Championships

PUNE - India’s Pankaj Advani and Geet Sethi were knocked out from the semi-finals of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Billiards Championships here Friday.

Mike Rusell of England got the better of defending champion Advani with the scoreline of 1417-1300 in his favour.

The Indian was behind by 600 points in the first session but closed the gap in the second with breaks of 231, 255, 185 and 317. It did not prove to be enough as the Englishmen recorded a break of 308 at the end to close out the match. Advani had earlier lost to Russell 0-6 in the final of the point format.

Sethi lost to Peter Gilchrist of Singapore 1668-1022 in the first semi-final. Sethi was leading by 387 points at one point but Gilchrist kept his composure to fire a break of 597 to eventually win the match.

Mike Russell will play England-born Peter Gilchrist in the final.
