Indiana swimming coach agrees to 2-year ban
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana swim coach who has criticized USA Swimming’s response to sexual abuse cases has been banned from coaching for two years after admitting he violated the sport’s code of conduct.
Fishers Area Swimming Tigers coach Ken Stopkotte has agreed to a deal that includes a two-year national coaching ban and a five-year ban from coaching teams in Indiana.
Indiana Swimming made the announcement Tuesday.
Stopkotte had been accused of violating its code of conduct multiple times, including 180 instances of altering swim times. The agreement came just before a scheduled arbitration hearing on Monday.
Indiana Swimming says the deal requires Stopkotte to admit he was solely responsible for fraud, deception and dishonesty.
