Campbell edges Virginia-Wise 20-16 on Polk’s run
WISE, Va. — Quarterback Daniel Polk scored from 1 yard out with 8 seconds left to give Campbell a come-from-behind 20-16 victory over Virginia-Wise on Saturday night.
Polk’s second touchdown of the game capped a 14-play, 84-yard drive.
Polk passed for 181 yards and carried 13 times for 36 yards. Rashaun Brown carried 12 times for 85 yards for the Camels, and Harrison Jordan had seven catches for 74 yards.
Stewart Robertson carried 10 times for 94 yards and a touchdown for the Highland Cavaliers of the NAIA, who lost their opener to Webber International 30-10.
A 21-yard third-quarter field goal by Campbell’s Adam Willets broke a 7-7 halftime tie. Virginia-Wise tied it early in the fourth on Allen Owens’ 38-yard field goal.
After Campbell pulled ahead on Willets’ career-best 46-yarder, Virginia-Wise regained the lead on Robertson’s 19-yard run with 4:36 left.
