Winston-Salem State rallies to beat NC A&T 21-14
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Kameron Smith scored on a 7-yard run with 41 seconds remaining to lift Winston-Salem State past North Carolina A&T 21-14 on Saturday night.
The Rams (2-0) who trailed 7-3 at halftime, took a 13-7 lead with 10:40 left in the game after Smith’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Terry and Landon Thayer’s 41-yard field goal.
On the ensuing kickoff, Justin Ferrell ran 76 yards to give the Aggies a 14-13 lead in their season opener with 10:28 to go.
Smith engineered an eight-play, 78-yard drive to put the Rams back on top 19-14. He then connected with Tyrone Goldston for the two-point conversion, finishing with 85 yards on 14 carries and completing 5 of 11 passes for 62 yards.
The Aggies could get no further than the Winston-Salem State 44 when time expired.
Mike Mayhew, who scored on a 1-yard run for North Carolina A&T, had 71 yards on 26 carries.
