NEW DELHI - The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) completely re-designed website, boasting of special interactive features and a special section to cater to visitors to the Commonwealth Games, was unveiled Tuesday, a Delhi metro official said.
“The Delhi Metro has redesigned its website with special interactive route map which will help the commuters to look for routes and fares in an extremely easy manner as it can be easily downloaded,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson said.
The new website carries contemporary and attractive look and it is more user-friendly with interactive route map, automatic fare calculator and details of tourist attractions along the metro corridor, he said.
The website can be accessed in both Hindi and English. Delhi metro official said that the redesign of the website was carried by the DMRC after thorough research and study of the websites of other international metro systems like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo.
“The redesigning of Delhi metro’s website was essential as the expanding network and the growing popularity of the metro has made more people log in the website and they search for information like metro routes, fares, timings and facilities,” the official said.
The website has a special section on the Commonwealth Games to provide details about the event, its association with metro, connectivity and other information.
“The website is redesigned in such a way that it will cater to thousands of foreign tourists who are expected to throng the national capital in October. The completely revamped website will serve as a single-stop shop for details regarding the Delhi metro,” he added.
The website will also have a ticker which will display important announcements and notices regarding metro for the convenience of the passengers.
Apart from this, separate sections on the Metro Citizens Forum volunteers’ programme, the Metro Museum, the Right to Information Act (RTI) and a photo gallery are also available.
